Suggestion for Tesla feature

mhmercer2 8 months ago updated by HamiltonCocoLady 4 months ago 2

It would be nice to have DropBox, or other access, to store preferences/contacts/destinations before disconnecting the low voltage battery. My 12 volt battery was changed. All of my data, except for driver's settings, were lost.

I Created a iOS scriptables widget

DrieStone 4 years ago updated 2 years ago 3

Thought I'd share a little project I've been working on. I've tried a variety of Tesla apps that add info to in a widget, but they're either expensive, or they disrupt the car's sleep. Since TeslaFi has an API, I used scriptable to build a widget that gives spits out details in a widget.

The widget is available on Github, and I'll keep adding features to it as they make sense.

My Tesla Powerwall charger isn’t charging my car!

Nmhousewife 2 years ago 0

My Tesla 60amp powerwall charger isn’t charging my car. What’s weird is it has all the green lights moving down it when plugged in and my charging port is green and it’s states it’s charging but it’s not, and usually I get 34miles/hr and 48/48 amp but now it says 8/48amps and 0/miles/hr. What even more strange I plug in my slow plug in a regular outlet charger it doesn’t work either, but when I push reset on the charger it’s starts charging my car, and it says charging but it still says 8/48amp and 0/miles/hr. And everyone I charge I have to push reset button or it won’t work! I was going to go to supercharger station this weekend and see what happens. Anyone had this same issue?? And my charging data wasn’t uploaded yesterday in teslefi or my tesla plus app!

Old / Failing 12V Battery Prevents Sleep

Duma 4 years ago updated by jsneirson 2 years ago 1

I've been on TeslaFi since August 2016.  During that time, I never had a problem with my Model S failing to sleep (except when I changed the settings known to interfere with sleep).  Beginning in August 2019 my car no longer was willing to sleep.  Settings were fine, logs show TeslaFi giving the car a chance to sleep.  Nothing helped and I was busy with other matters.

Fast forward to November, 2019 and my car gives the alert to have the 12 V battery service/replaced.  Tesla replaced the battery yesterday and with no other actions on my part, the car is back to sleeping just fine.  There wasn't even a software update to the car, so the only change was replacing the 12 V battery.  (Aside to the other old timers - this is my first 12 V battery replacement, so I got about 4 1/2 years.  Not bad given about all the concerns back in 2015 and earlier with many 12 V batteries failing after a year.)

Might be worth adding this to the knowledge base article on reasons why a car won't sleep.  As the 12 V battery degrades and no longer holds a charge well, the need to more frequently recharge the 12 V battery seems to keep the car from going to sleep.

Caveat.  My car has AP1 and the MCU1 control unit, so it remains to be determined whether cars with the newer control units behave the same way.  In any case, it will be a few more years before the 12 V batteries degrade on those cars.  For now, I expect this to be an issue mostly for older Model S.

Download TeslaFi Data doesn't work with Edge browser

RayF 3 years ago 0

I went to Setting, Account, Advanced and selected "Download TeslaFi Data" for June 2021 using the Edge browser. Nothing happens. I switched to Firefox and after 6 seconds it prompts as to what to do with the data. I saved the file which is fine.

Am I calculating my total cost correctly?

porkisking 3 years ago updated by Pstreicher 3 years ago 3

So I'm trying to calculate how much my model Y is costing in electricity and my math is telling me it's much more than advertised. So here in NJ, according to my last PSE&G bill, my electric supply costs is .13 per kWh and my electric delivery costs is .05 per kWh. So total is .18 kWh. My odometer is now 5483 miles. According to TeslaFi, which I've been using since the beginning, I've used 2389 kWh which costed me $431. Comparing to a fossil car,  $431 would buy me about 172 gallons of gas @ $2.50/gal. 5483 miles / 172 gallons gives me only 31 miles per gallon. Even if I assume perfect 100% charge efficiency and use 1970 kWh for the math, it would have cost $355 instead. That buys me 142 gallons and still gives me only 38 mpg.

Why is my Model Y as efficient as a gas powered Toyota Corolla? Is my math wrong somewhere?

Sleep settings explained

seth2020 4 years ago 0

I know James did a good job explaining sleep settings here

...but until I wrote down the following, I just could not wrap my head around it.  So sharing in case this helps others to understand how this works

  1. While in Idle
  2. Will poll vehicle 1/min (the Polling Time While Idle value)
  3. …for this period of time: Idle Time Before Trying To Sleep (30 m)
  4. After this time has expired, will NOT poll vehicle for period of time: Time To Try Sleeping (15 m)
  5. … in an attempt to let the car sleep
  6. If detect car is asleep, then will not poll, but will continue to check if it is asleep
  7. If detect car did not fall asleep, Go back to step 1
  8. If car awakes from sleep, go back to step 1

The above is true when NOT in Nighttime TeslaFi Sleep Mode or Deep Sleep Mode
